    Acupressure Course

Our online Acupressure Course will teach you how and where to apply pressure to the body to enhance the flow of energy (variously referred to as ‘Ki’, ‘Chi’ or ‘Prana’) in the 12 main bi-lateral meridians, according to the principles of Oriental medicine. This therapy is widely used in China where more emphasis is given to a person’s responsibility for their own health than it is in the Western world.

Acupressure is believed to be the ‘Mother of Acupuncture’, in that it predates the use of needles to stimulate the body’s energy flow. It has the same principles as Acupuncture, but the pressure is applied directly to the Acupoints of the body mainly by using the hands, fingers, thumbs or knuckles. Stimulation of the body’s meridian system by touch is perhaps one of the oldest and most effective healing systems.

The course material also includes a link to an ‘Instructional ‘Video’, which demonstrates all of the Practical Techniques for this subject, presented by a Professional Therapist.

Our course is open to both ‘practicing therapists’ and individuals who have an interest to learn this skill. This in-depth course will lead you step-by-step through the treatment sequence and teach you everything you need to know in order to become a Professional in your field.

No previous knowledge is required to study this subject; we train our students from beginner to practitioner/therapist level.

This is a Requirement for All “Hands on” Therapy Courses

    Case Studies:
We require a minimum of three ‘case-studies’ from three different volunteers, nine treatments in total. These will need to be written up and submitted to us prior to your final examination (theory).

We provide everyone with full guidelines, on how to conduct this Practical Work. If you need additional assistance or advice, our ‘friendly team’ are always at your disposal.

This really is the ‘fun part’ of your course, working with real people, assessing your own results, and obtaining feedback from your volunteers. Enjoy this vital part of your training, which will pay dividends later, in your career as a Professional Therapist.

    Important:
Please arrange your own team of volunteers to coincide with your enrolment for any ‘hands-on’ therapy subject. We ask you to begin working with these people as soon as you commence your studies.

You will need to put into practise every procedure that you are covering in your lessons. We advise you to select individuals who are close to you, whom you feel comfortable with, and who have no serious ailments. You will need detailed feedback from these volunteers to build your confidence, and perfect your techniques. Should you experience any problems during this initial period, this is the time to ask us for assistance. It is our role as ‘professional trainers’, to provide support on an on-going basis.

This is your opportunity to gain valuable ‘hands on’ experience, throughout your course, and, prior to working with your ‘paying clients’, once you have graduated.

    Note:
Students who do not wish to submit a case study programme, for reasons of their own (i.e. disability, illness, etc) will be awarded our accredited diploma, with the additional wording (Theory) added after the course title e.g. SNHS Dip. Acupressure (Theory).

    Hands-On Therapy Courses:
Acupressure; Aromatherapy; Holistic Massage Therapy; Hopi Ear Candling; Hot Stone Therapy; Indian Face Massage; Indian Head Massage; Kinesiology; Reflexology, Shiatsu and Aura & Chakra Energy Healing.

There are ‘Question Papers’ at the end of each lesson which typically contains 10 questions. The answers to the questions will be found within the lesson or in lessons previously studied.

There is also a ‘Final Exam’ at the end of the course which is classed as an open book exam so you can consult your course material to help if necessary.

On the successful completion of this course, students will receive a ‘Practitioner/Therapist level, Insurable Qualification and Diploma’.

You may begin your work as a therapist, and make a charge to your clients, providing you have Public Liability Insurance, (if appropriate in your location).

See our Accreditation Page for the list of ‘independent accrediting bodies’ who approve and accredit our courses in the UK and around the World including The International College of Holistic Medicine (ICHM) and The American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP).

    Student Feedback

I have thoroughly enjoyed your Acupressure course and, as with all the subjects I am studying with SNHS, I am impressed by the exercises you provide with each module.  They are so well structured in the way that they cross-reference various precepts to maximise comprehension, and retention of vital information.  It is not easy to gauge the progress of students at a distance, but you have found an effective way of achieving this necessary goal.
