A Proving Past and Promising Future – Stephen Dunne

About 15 years ago, I was playing a game of indoor soccer. I wasn’t very good, to be honest, as there were only two highlights of mine in the game. One was when I jumped leg first in the air to take control of a football flying by (when I should have really used my head for the job) …… the other was a small, ever so slight, movement of my hips and lower back to position myself to save a shot at the goal which I was defending. As is often the case, it wasn’t the acrobatic high flying movement that caused/triggered the following nine months of intense lower back and work-ending pain but instead the smallest, barely noticeable bodily movement of a whole football game.

This started my never ending journey into the world of Holistic Therapies! Back then, after trying everything from a physiotherapist to a chiropractic surgeon and a healer in the west of Ireland who fixed people’s backs on his horse farm (!!!) I was introduced to a man who practiced an array of holistic therapies including acupressure, kinesiology and shiatsu. It was this therapist’s approach to holistic therapies that was enough to solve my intense lower back and leg problems.

To give you some idea of just how effective this multi-disciplinary approach was for me, I went from losing physical power and mobility in my left leg and a lot of lower back pain to full power in both my legs and next to no lower back pain in just three weeks after over nine months of suffering and searching for a solution.

The whole experience left me with a burning desire to help other people along their journeys to find their solutions!!  After years studying different modalities including Tui-Na Chinese massage to Craniosacral therapy, in 2013 I came across The School of Natural Health Sciences which fitted in perfectly with my now learned approach of looking at various ailments and problems that clients have from multiple modalities and angles.

Fantastically Present

With the greatest thanks to The School of Natural Health Sciences I have moved from helping and fixing people part time to opening a therapy centre full time called the PMA Therapy Centre, in Co. Kildare, Ireland, where I work alongside a business and life coach, 2 counsellors/psychotherapists and a nutritional therapist, furthering the message of getting to the solution of a problem whether it be of the mind or body related or indeed both.

Now Back to the Future

The School of Natural Health Sciences has been instrumental in giving me a broad base and understanding upon which as a therapist I can help and assist people find a solution to their problems. In addition to this I am continuing my studies to attain the Higher International Diploma in Holistic Therapies. I also intend to, very soon, broaden my understanding further by beginning the Reflexology course with this ‘fantastic and flexible School’!!!
