My Story

I guess my journey with nutrition truly began whilst working for an Organic Skin Care brand in Sydney, Australia. Most of my clients were health food shops and it’s safe to say I loved my job! I was like a kid in a candy store visiting those places stocked with row upon row of healthy, nutritious and ethically packaged ‘feel good’ food items which simply weren’t available in mainstream supermarkets. It was almost impossible for me to walk out of a client meeting without having made a purchase! Furthermore, many of my lovely clients were qualified in the Health Sciences and I found our conversations stimulating and thought provoking.

When my son was around 15 months, we decided as a family to move to Phuket, Thailand. I have always loved food: shopping for it, cooking it, serving it and eating it. However, being in Thailand which is so culturally removed from the UK or Australia, opened my eyes to many new ways of enjoying food and, more specifically, the nutritional as well as ethical side of what we eat and how we eat it. I was now in a place where I could follow my passion and had allowed myself a year off work to study. A little online research lead me to the School of Natural Health Sciences and soon after I commenced with the Holistic Nutrition course and Ethical & Sustainable Eating. I opted to do both tutored as I know I like to ask a lot of questions! Being so remote, the format suited me perfectly and I enjoyed both courses immensely, swiftly signing up for two more courses related to Nutrition.

Upon completing Child & Adolescent Nutrition, I decided it was time to set up my own business and, shortly after,‘Seeds of Changes’ was born. If you are wondering re the name, it is a nod to my ethos that it’s the little changes we make which amount to something big. There are plenty of health & wellness retreats in Thailand and many excellent places to ‘’detox’’ so I was never going to try and appeal to that market. I felt strongly that there was a gap for all those people who want to get healthier, who are sick of fad diets but who want to make better food choices – and for these choices to be sustainable for the long term, as well as for the environment. It could be as simple as cutting out red meat, swapping from refined carbohydrates to wholegrains or trying a nut-based milk in place of dairy options. The point is, we can all make changes and one positive change tends to lead to another.

Perhaps the most common health issue I have encountered in my practice so far, is clients with alarmingly high cholesterol levels and no visible signs of this. One gentleman I saw was so committed to making changes, following his blood test results, he managed to decrease his LDL Cholesterol by 20% in 6 weeks. He stuck to the Nutrition Plan I set out for him and exercised almost daily. I think the result made us both feel good. 😊

I am loving working as a Nutritionist and I continue to learn on a daily basis, mostly because I seek out the education. Sometimes you find it where you least expect it. Someone once said to me, ‘when you stop learning, you stop living’ and I want to say thank you to the School of Natural Health Sciences for making it possible for me to keep learning, I’ve loved the journey so far.

Kind regards,

Juliette Eve: Nutritionist
