I have always had an interest in Natural Therapies. My interest in Aromatherapy started many years ago when my children were little. At the time I used Aromatherapy and I soon came to realise I was called to ‘fix’ all the little bumps and scrapes that my children and their friends chalked up over the years. At that time we had a horse stud where my husband and I bred horses. Because I had always had an interest in natural health, our horses also became my ‘clients’. Our vet used to laugh at me because he said that we had the best smelling horses. However, I could fix their colic before the vet arrived. Bergamot is wonderful for that. As I said, I have use essential oils for a while now but decided that I needed to do it more in depth and get my qualifications to be able to practice.
I have also trained in several different types of Reiki and realised that they really are all the same. It is the same energy wherever you learn from. I also did an online course with Judith and Chris at Chikara-Reiki-Do as well to see if there was any difference. To me it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever doing Reiki by distance as it is all about energy. In fact, because they are at a distance and we all keep in touch it is actually better for people who are a little isolated. It brings us all together.
About a year ago, my family told me that it was about time that I developed my own range of aromatherapy products to sell, instead of giving them away. As usual I told them that I didn’t think that MY stuff was as good as other products on the market. Boy !!! Did they jump on me and put me straight. But I think that we all feel that way at times don’t we? So after more badgering, poking and prodding, I decided that it would be fun to develop a range of Massage Blends, Shampoos, Conditioners, Body Washes and Lotions to start off our new business. A lot of testing, smelling, trying, laughing and grimacing ensued to get the best ones that we liked and that I was happy with.
It was about this time that I decided that I needed to get the ‘Piece of Paper’ to PROVE to others that I was qualified to do this. That was when I found The School of Natural Health Sciences website, around August 2008. Now, I live in Australia so the thought of doing a course like this online worried me. I didn’t know how I was going to learn about Aromatherapy from across the world on the internet.
How wrong could I be !!!
I thought that because the prices were reasonable that the content might not be that good. And what about asking questions and getting answers? I needn’t have worried at all. As I got started, I was really pleased to see that the content was written in a manner that was easy to understand but at the same time it was interesting and informative. Don’t get me wrong !!! They made me work for my Diplomas in Aromatherapy and Advanced Aromatherapy. Having attended University in my younger years, I found that I could follow The School of Natural Health Sciences courses quite easily. They were also on the end of an email for any questions that I had. And they answered my queries quickly. I am delighted to recommend them to anyone considering a career in Natural Therapies. I am presently studying Professional Relaxation Therapy and Acupressure with them as well. I will also do my Higher International Diploma in Aromatherapy.
So here I am, a ‘mature’ lady who is starting a new venture. Together with my daughter who handles the sales and marketing side of things, we have created our company called ‘Aromatherapy for You’. Please come and visit with us for a while and let us know what you think.
I have since developed products for Eczema (because my granddaughter needed it) and Psoriasis because a friend needed it) and for the ladies who are going through ‘The Change’, I have developed HOT FLASH. My sister now loves me even more now that her night sweats have gone down from 25 a day to about 4. She tells everyone about it, bless her heart.
I am also working on a blend to assist children with Autism. I have a beautiful nephew who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and he is responding well to this blend. His mum says that he is less in his own little world. So we shall see what happens.
