Exercise for Health & Wellness Course

This course provides a very comprehensive overview of exercise and the ‘key factors’ associated with the mental and physical benefits of physical activity.  An array of different exercise forms with their contribution and specific roles in health and well-being are discussed, highlighting the importance of combining a variety of exercise into a well-rounded programme.

Students will learn the role of ‘cardiovascular/aerobic conditioning’ exercise, to increase the heart rate, and the importance of ‘strength training’ for muscular endurance and improving bone health. The importance of ‘stretching’ and ideal times to stretch is highlighted in terms of maximizing results and reducing injury incidence.  The role of exercise in combating ‘stress’ is also discussed, with an introduction to the benefits of Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi.
