This course aims to provide an engaging insight into sustainable and ethical eating, helping health conscious individuals follow a balanced diet whilst designing more environmentally considered eating practices.

Offering a comprehensive introduction to modern day diets, this course looks at how we can all make valuable changes in the way we think about food, our appreciation of food, and how we can adapt our current food practices.  In today’s often fast-paced society, we are frequently tempted by convenient food products rather than making fresh meals from scratch. In the long-term, however, this not only affects the health of our planet, but public health, coinciding with a rise in obesity and diabetes.

This course does not stress an all-or-nothing approach, but rather increases awareness of our food choices. Ethical and sustainable eating means eating healthy food as close to its natural state as possible, characterized by unrefined, unprocessed, organic and locally grown whole foods.

Introducing sustainable/ethical living and its philosophies, the lessons in this course provide many comprehensive definitions, including the term ‘permaculture’ and the concepts behind designing sustainable, efficient and productive ways of living. The balanced diet is outlined in detail, and how sustainable eating will impact the way we eat today is explored in terms of food choice, cost, and preparing a balanced diet for the whole family. Other popular topics discussed in this course include meat consumption and humane farming systems, reducing our meat intake, growing-your-own, creating a sustainable kitchen, and sustainable recipes.
