Vibes aren’t just something that people mention in colloquial passing, they are real, physical and amazingly powerful. Vibrations are basically energy, physical energy that is within everything, including us human beings. We use the term to describe the feeling we get from others for a reason, because we can literally detect the vibrations people are exuding. If you are angry, anxious, or sad this can be recognised by more than just your body language. Our energy also represents our inner feelings. If you are releasing negative vibrations this can rub off on others as though it is catching. Similarly if someone is emitting good vibes this can pass on to those around us.
There are many ways in which we can manage our personal energy and increase our good vibes. In order to raise your vibrations, to urge them towards the positive, and clear your “chi” we can use some simple practices as recommended by energy healers.
A very simple practice, one we obviously do all day every day, but to breathe mindfully can completely reset our inner being. Paying attention to the breath by way of taking long, deep inhalations through the nose and out through the mouth can reduce anxiety and stress by calming the nervous system. Dopamine and serotonin are released during this process which are chemicals released by the nervous system that make us feel good naturally. Whilst inhaling try to make your stomach rise higher than your chest, when exhaling release the breath for approximately five seconds or until the lungs are completely emptied. Repeat this at least five times to ensure you get the full benefits.
Our surroundings also carry the energy that we give off and so we can also benefit from cleansing the air in our immediate area. Burning sage is one way many people use to do this, which can also be used to cleanse ourselves. We ask that the negative energy be released and the positive energy to remain during this procedure. Light a sage stick and allow the smoke to surround you beginning at your feet and working your way up and around the body allowing those bad vibes to disperse.
Taking up yoga is one of the most effective ways to cleanse our energy. Once you find your personal favourite flow this can be your go-to method of healing your chi. Yoga is the perfect blend of exercise plus mind, body and soul soothing. Try to make a point to practice when you’re beginning to feel stressed or unsettled and ease away the tension. Yoga combines movement with a connection to our breath, again, useful for healing our vibrations.
Whether you have managed to achieve deep meditation or not a once or twice daily practice with the intention of ejecting all bad vibes from the body and mind will result in a far more positive energy and good vibes running through you. Practicing this first thing in the morning will give you that extra boost of vitality and good energy to carry you through the day. Make this part of your daily ritual and see the benefits take shape.
Connecting with nature, the very ground we walk on, is something which we tend to neglect as an important part of our existence. In order to feel grounded and connect with our spirituality this is an essential activity. To realise our place in the world we need to ensure that we root ourselves in the present, and feel a belonging to our universe. To achieve this there are techniques we can use such as focussing our intentions on releasing negative energy, find a place where either grass is growing, head for the beach, or anywhere the ground is natural, and take off your shoes and walk around barefoot. Following this, stand straight with your eyes closed and practice the breathing method mentioned above. Assume yourself as part of the earth, like something growing from it, find the energy from it and allow the positivity to surge into you through your feet. As you breathe in, absorb all the positive energy and good vibes from the earth and as you exhale release any bad vibrations from yourself.
A good long soak in a hot bath is a sumptuous way to remove your negative energy and a perfect way to relieve stress and prepare your body and mind for a deep, restful sleep. The heat plus the feeling of being submerged also helps to ease out your tension, soften the muscles and release the negative energy in exchange for good vibes. Swimming can have a similar effect. Although it will renew your energy so it is better to do this during the day rather than later in the evening.
However you choose to release your negative energy, try to do it every day for a more positive life experience. Doing anything that makes you happy will also help to achieve this state of peace and bring on those good vibes.
