Create your own Christmas ambience this year with these homemade, aromatic, essential oil home sprays all made from natural ingredients.
Christmas brings us joy and happiness and those memories are often triggered by the smell of an apple pie in the oven or the aroma of pine trees when passing a forest. To recreate those cosy aromas and give your home that Christmassy ambience how about making these simple essential oil home sprays? They are made with all natural ingredients and would also make great gifts for loved ones.
Equipment: all you need are the essential oils themselves, ensure you opt for prime quality, organic, ecological oils to avoid any unwanted chemicals. Also you’ll need some glass spray bottles, easily acquired online or in your local DIY store. If you want to give as gifts, you’ll need some waterproof label stickers to write on and decorate. How to make your own essential oil home sprays:
Your first task is to select a range of your favourite aromas and purchase some good quality, organic, 100% essential oils. You’ll also need to purchase good quality glass spray bottles. To increase the volume of your spray and to dilute the intensity of the oil (you wouldn’t spray pure essential oils as they are too strong and would stain furniture).
Select your recipe – from the list below or create your own by trial and error – and place your combination of essential oils in the bottle. Fill the bottle with your witch hazel or distilled water and there you have your Christmas ambient home spray ready to disperse festive aromas all over the house, furniture, soft furnishings, linen, even the tree! The following are recipes designed to fill a 60ml bottle.
