Why am I so addicted?
There are so many people out there who developed the habit of smoking without realising how addicted they would actually become. There are many reasons why people become addicted to smoking. The main, and most obvious one being the nicotine which the tobacco contains.
Upon inhalation, nicotine rushes to the brain, affecting the chemicals dopamine and noradrenaline. This alteration in the brains chemical balance produces feelings of reduced anxiety and stress, while increasing feelings of pleasure. With prolonged use, the brain becomes accustomed to the nicotine levels, and you have to smoke more in order to feel the same effects.
The habit is hard to kick. Smoking ends up being your pre-meal aperitif and post-meal digestive aid. Your break time activity at work and a reason to socialise with other smokers, or step outside. You like the familiarity of the way it feels in your hand, you end up enjoying the taste and smell. It keeps you occupied while your thinking and you’d soon go mad if you couldn’t have access to one when you’re stressed out.
Times have changed, it’s time to change with them.
Back in the day, smoking was considered cool, even advertised on television as a healthy habit that can improve your quality of life. Thankfully, advertising laws have changed since then and people these days are more than educated on the health risks involved. In many countries, it’s become illegal to smoke inside, and in some cases, even outside.
Smoking is popularly shunned upon now in society and the parents are considered ‘unfit’ who smoke around their children. Online dating even gives you a smoker/nonsmoker option to fill in, in order to filter out those who smoke, and those who don’t.
There are so many reasons to stop smoking, but the main and most important one is for your own health. If we start going into all the risks, we’ll be here all day, so let’s just assume you know them and that’s why you’ve taken an interest in putting down the cigarette for good. There are thousands of methods available to guide you through quitting, and what works for some may not work for others. It’s important to know yourself, have realistic goals, and carefully select a planned method which speaks loudest to you personally.

List of things you will need in order to stop smoking:
1.) Will Power
2.) See Nº1
3.) See Nº1 & 2
The one and only fundamental you truly need in order to quit, is your own will power. Will power is like a muscle… The more you use it, the stronger it becomes.
Now, when we’re talking about will power, it’s the enemy of addiction. Addiction is a disease, and the disease is like a selfish, controlling, obsessive, potentially dangerous partner who seemed like a great candidate at first, but now has taken over your life. You may have tried and tried again to get rid of this person, but they keep finding a way back into your life.
The great climax to this trying endeavour, is that you possess the antidote for this poisonous disease within your very own mind. Your very own will power has the ability to rid this disease for good. You have the tools already, you just need to know how to use them.
This is where hypnosis comes in
Many people are turning to hypnosis as a method of self-training. What hypnotherapists actually do, is give you the tools to hypnotise yourself. It may sound odd, but really that’s what hypnotherapy is all about. Hypnotism enables you to enter a relaxed, focused state in which you allow your mind to be open to suggestion. It is in this state where real ground work can be made. The therapy is used to re-wire the patterns of your mind, harness your will power and help you to discover things about yourself you never knew were there. All of a sudden, quitting doesn’t seem so impossible, and resisting your addiction is no longer a painful struggle.
